About Our Clinic

The Carleton University Sports Medicine Clinic was first established in 1972. At this time we were one of the first clinics in Canada to provide diagnosis and treatment for the injured athlete.

Today after more than 50 years of dedication, and commitment to patient care, education, and clinical research, we are pleased to extend our sports medicine education online to physicians, and patients into the next millennium.

The Carleton Sport Medicine Clinic is available to consult on patients with various musculoskeletal issues and is involved in the education and teaching of physicians and patients.

Our Specialty

We specialize in the diagnosis and treatment of athletic injuries with emphasis on patient care, education and research. Physicians who have training in the management of sports injuries are available for consultation within 1-2 weeks. Consultations by orthopedic surgeons are available when necessary.

Vison & Mission

Our goal is to be an integral part of each patient’s rehabilitation team, with a focus on comprehensive care for sports injuries. Our physiotherapists, massage therapists, athletic therapists and strength and conditioning specialists to develop a collaborative approach to ensure that recovery and training work simultaneously in order to strengthen the entire body. Providing patients with education to develop total-body strength and balance which will help rehab and injury prevention.

The clinic is located in the Ice House arena building on the campus of Carleton University. If you enter off Bronson Ave, stay left on University Drive. Medical Education

We have a commitment to undergraduate medical education. We are associated with the University of Ottawa and take medical students on elective assignments. The Family Practice program also assigns residents or sport medicine fellows to the clinic for rotations. During these electives the student is exposed to the diagnosis and treatment of common athletic injuries.

Sports medicine rounds are held once a month at 6:30 PM. Contact the clinic for the monthly topics. The rounds are open to all medical and paramedical sports medicine staff in the city.
